X is quietly reshaping how people interact across languages and images, rolling out new AI tools that push the platform deeper into real-time global conversation.
The platform has begun introducing automatic post translation and an upgraded AI-powered photo editor, both driven by Grok. The move signals a stronger push toward making content more accessible while keeping users inside the app longer.
According to X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, the automatic translation feature is now rolling out worldwide. Users can view translated posts instantly, with the option to disable translation for specific languages through a settings toggle. The goal is simple: remove friction in global conversations while boosting content reach across borders.
This isn’t a new play in tech. Platforms like Reddit have already experimented with machine translation to expand audience accessibility. Still, X integrating it directly into the core feed puts it front and center in everyday use.
At the same time, X is expanding its creative toolkit. The updated iOS app now includes drawing tools, text overlays, and a blur feature designed to hide sensitive information like faces or personal data. More notably, users can now prompt Grok with commands like “display this photo as a painting in a museum,” and the AI will generate a transformed version of the image.
The company says Android support is coming soon.
However, the rollout lands in a complicated moment. Earlier this year, Elon Musk faced criticism over AI-generated image misuse on the platform, which led to tighter restrictions on certain features. It remains unclear whether this new editing tool will be limited to paying users.
Meanwhile, competitors like Google and Adobe continue building similar AI-driven editing tools, making it clear this space is only getting more crowded.
