The video, shared with the account’s nearly three hundred thousand followers, starts out light as he introduces himself as “Ye from Chi.”

Ye confidently rates his look a perfect ten out of ten and highlights his original Yeezy 950 sneakers. He explains that the rest of his clothing came from a pop-up shop he visited earlier in the day. The interviewer then tries to keep the mood playful by asking him which fashion trend he regrets taking part in.

That is when the moment shifts. Ye pauses, stares off for a long second, and responds with one word. “Life.”

The comment arrives during a complicated period for the artist. He has faced a highly publicized custody battle with Kim Kardashian, limited touring opportunities mainly outside the United States, and several lawsuits.
