YouTube Launches Second Round of #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund; Will Support 135 Black Creatives

YouTube is set to launch its second rollout of its #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund, developing and supporting 135 Black creatives on the platform.

Black people have been the leaders in the creation of unique and influential content on social media platforms for years. And because of that, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms are coming out with programs catered to helping the success of Black creatives on their platforms. YouTube is the latest to announce the relaunch #YouTubeBlack Voice Fund, which was initially started in 2020.

According to The Verge, the fund will include 135 Black creatives – 49 in the U.S. and 40 in Canada – who will be given support for their channels. Some of the benefits of the initiative include development programs, workshops and opportunities to network. In a statement, the company said Black creators are at the core of content creation for the site.

“Black creators have played an important role in shaping the culture on YouTube. From fashion and comedy to politics, learning and wellness, Black creators have propelled our platform forward,” reads the company’s statement.
