Ciara and Russell Wilson donated more than $35,000 to Denny International Middle School.

The couple partnered with the NFL, Goalsetter, and their Why Not You Foundation to bring awareness to Financial Literacy Month.

“Financial literacy and building wealth is so important,” Wilson said. “Ciara and I really wanted to talk to you all because we didn’t come from much and we had big visions, we had goals, big dreams.”

Wilson encouraged students to learn about technology to prepare for investing.

“It’s about finding the next up-and-coming thing. I wish I had invested in Facebook when I was young,” the football star said.

Goldsetter, a New York-based financial technology company, will provide up to five years of literacy tools through its app.

“After these kids see or hear Russell Wilson in their class, I want them to see that they don’t need to aspire to be in the NFL to be as cool and as financially successful as home,” Van Court, Goalsetter CEO, said.

Van Court says that financial literacy is the foundation of building wealth in a capitalistic society.

“It really should be a crime that kids are coming out of high school and can describe the periodic table but can’t describe the stock market,” Van Court said. “We have a capitalistic society that depends upon the understanding of the infrastructure of capitalism in order to build wealth, yet all we teach them is to go out and get a job.”

The CEO believes that every state should have a mandated k-12 financial education curriculum.

“I will also say I would like for us to mandate that financial education in a way that is culturally relevant and applicable to all kids,” Van Court said.

According to the  Seattle Times, 29% of students at Denny International Middle School are Latin, 23% are white, 22% are black, 13% are Asian, 2% Pacific Islander, 1% Native American, 10% of students identify as being more than one race.

Students must engage with the program by taking a weekly quiz, or their accounts will be frozen. Almost 900 students will receive a savings account with $40.

Russell Wilson and Ciara are set to co-host NBC’s “Roll Up Your Sleeves” TV special on Sunday to educate America about COVID-19 vaccines.

The show will include many stars and influencers from all walks of life, from former President, Barack Obama, and current President Joe Biden, as well as NBA stars, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal.

We can’t forget about Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The star-studded show is also set to include, Eva Longoria, Billy Crystal, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jennifer Lopez, Faith Hill, Ken Jeong, Matthew McConaughey, Demi Lovato and many many more.

The goal of the special, according to the organizers, is to “educate viewers, raise awareness and dispel concerns surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines.”

The show will also seek to “inform and encourage those who have vaccination concerns to learn the facts.”

According to The New York Times, there have been more than 30 million COVID incidents in the United States, including more than 560,000 deaths.

More than 66 million Americans have been completely vaccinated, accounting for nearly 20% of the population, according to a CDC report.

Russell Wilson jokingly said Ciara should stop breastfeeding.

When is the right time to stop breastfeeding your child? The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding a child for at least two years, but the average mother stops nursing their baby after six months. Wilson might believe Ciara is a month past that mark.

Ciara gave birth to the couple’s second child seven months ago. On a now-expired video on Instagram Stories posted this week, Russell told Ci it’s time to hang up breastfeeding. “What did you say about breastfeeding,” Ciara asks, urging Wilson to repeat what he said off-camera.

“I said it’s time…time to give it up,” the Seattle Seahawks quarterback responds. “I mean, he’s old enough; his nutrition is good. It’s time…you’re being selfish now at this point. No more late nights. [It’s] you and I.” Ciara replied, “He needs to nutrition.” Russell responds, “Let me feed.”

In the caption, Ciara wrote, “LOL. When dad’s over breastfeeding.”

While the Wilsons are more than able to make decisions for their own family, recommendations vary. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) suggests mothers breastfeed for the first six months of a child’s life and continue until the age of one. The organization states that breastfeeding can go on “for as long as you and your baby would like.” (Doing so is known as “extended breastfeeding,” reports Yahoo! News.)

“Our culture can sometimes project a somewhat limited view of acceptable breastfeeding practices; while nursing toddlers are becoming a more common sight, they still occasionally provoke comments and stares from uninformed adults,” states the American Academy of Pediatrics. “When deciding how long to breastfeed your child, a more valid yardstick than public opinion is your own child’s approach to nursing and your own feelings about it.”

For the mothers out there, when did you stop breastfeeding?

Ciara and Russell Wilson sat down with GQ to talk about their fairy tale romance and their blended family.

The mega couple, who begin their day praying together, says that they keep the love flowing in their relationship by setting rules regarding how long they can go without being with one another.

“What is it, like ten days that we don’t wanna push past, babe? Ten days when we travel?” Cici asked her hubby, who replied, “When we first met, it was 14 days.” That was before they married in 2016 after a year together. “Then it was ten days. And now it’s no more than seven or five. I don’t know, it may be really five days at this point.”

Since football season is now over, the two get to spend even more time together, which Russell is thankful for.

“We’re just grateful that we get to spend time together every day. Every morning we wake up together, it’s a blessing, and we get to smile from ear to ear and know that ‘You know what? Let’s go. Let’s go do this.’”

Wilson says that he emphasizes communication in his marriage to the platinum-selling artist, comparing it to his career on the field.

“If I don’t communicate to my receiver, he doesn’t know what the play is. It’s like, ‘Uh, hey, what are we doing here?’ It’s probably more significant than that, even, but for us, for me and Ciara, communicating, it’s the same: ‘This week’s going to be a challenging week, babe, because I’ve got this responsibility. What about you? What do you have?’ And at the end of every week, we always go through a checklist of questions of, you know, ‘How’d I love you this week?’ ”

The NFL star began dating Ciara when her son Future was just nine months old. He says that he was happy to step up as a stepfather despite the elder Future’s disdain.

“The reality was that for me, it was a blessing and an opportunity to really hopefully be there for him every day and try to care for him in a way that was important for me, that I always wanted someone to do for me. Like my dad did for me. And so I think the greatest thing that I’ve ever learned in life is probably in that relationship with Future because the reality of being a stepparent is that biologically they’re not necessarily yours, but the reality is that you have to love them as if they are. They’re your own blood, in a way. You get to love them that way. And I think every kid deserves that and needs that and yearns for that.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion is not only a winner on the field, but he’s also won over the hearts of people around the country for his loving and caring relationship with singer wife Ciara. During a virtual interview with Kevin Hart for his Cold as Balls show, Wilson shared how life has been since the beginning of quarantine amid the #coronavirus.

Wilson says his stay-at-home experience has been a combination of doctor visits for Ciara, training, and creative date nights. “It’s been crazy, man. You know Ci is pregnant. So that’s the first thing. We’ve been going to these doctor’s appointments, and I can’t even go in the room sometimes just because of the whole process, so that’s been interesting. But, you know, just been training,” said Wilson. The Seattle Seahawks player then described how some date nights have been since Ciara got pregnant.

“Ci told me early on. She was two months pregnant, right. And it’s Friday night, you know, date night. You know, we trying to, you know, come home the right way. And so anyways, I’m getting all dressed up, ready prepared, you know, everything else. She says, ‘Hey, um, I’ma wear my Uggs.’ And then she says, ‘My feet hurt.” So, I wanted to finish the night strong, so I said, ‘You know what, I’ma rub your feet for the rest of the night,’” explained Wilson.

Wilson went on to discuss how he had the option to play for the NFL and MLB but ended up in the NFL later on down the line. The quarterback added that his height made a lot of people doubt the possibility of him getting drafted. “Small quarterback, chip on you shoulder. Was it or was it not,” Hart asked. “Oh, for sure,” Wilson responded. “I have one memory distinctly of when this happened. So, we go to the Combine. You can’t have nothing. I mean just drawls that’s it. No, no, nothing. And that’s it. I was going to put some socks under these feet. And you know, get a couple of inches,” he said.

“My hair, I had my hair all tall. And I had it all jelled up, and I’m thinking to myself, ‘Man I’ma be a good 6’0, 6’1 with this hair.’ Sure enough, I know I measure myself. My true height. I’m like 5’10, 7, and some extra. So anyways, sure enough, this dude measured me 5’10 and a quarter. And I’m like….I was hot,” Wilson continued. “So as I’m walked down. I’m walking down the aisle, right….I’ll never forget this, there was a dude on the right. I ain’t gone say who it is. He said to the guy next to him, he says, ‘Psh, he’ll never make it. He’ll never make it.’ I’ll never forget hearing that in my right ear.”

Wilson explained that it took him some time before he became the Seahawks franchise quarterback. Wilson said that in that moment, all he could think about was the journey it took to get him there and the passing of his father. “I just start thinking about my Dad. I start thinking about all the stuff I’d been through in my life. All the hard work and it all came real. It all came to fruition. Ever since I was young, I always kind of wrote out what was going to happen. I always wrote out my goals. And that gives me direction.”

Now, ABC is taking the same route with this year’s ESPY awards, set to air on June 21, on ESPN.

Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks has been chosen to host the 28th iteration of the event, along with lovebirds soccer star Megan Rapinoe and her girlfriend Sue Bird, three-time WNBA champion.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, pop sensation Ciara is “likely” to make an appearance during the ceremony, being that she’s married to Wilson. The two have notably attended the show together the past few years and always present an award together.

The dynamic trio, whom all live in Seattle, will take part in what is being called a

“changed focus” for the big night, which honors athletic achievements during the year preceding the ceremony.

Being that this is the first time three people are hosting the ceremony, the show is already different than the rest.

“We liked the idea of having athletes from diverse sports that represent something for every fan,” Jeff Smith, producer for the ESPY’s said in a phone interview. “We’re finding ways to make this feel really connected to the audience. They’re so ready to reach out to this community.”

This year will see a change in routine segments during the annual ceremony, to acknowledge the effects of COVID-19.

The outlet reports that “heroism” and “humanitarian aid” will be a celebratory focus during the event.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This will also be the first show without long-time executive producer Maura Mandt who passed unexpectedly on Feb 28, aged 53.

“I wish we could have done this show together because she would have a really interesting perspective on how we’re doing this,” Smith shared in regard to his former colleague. “This is the first one of its kind. Maura’s signature will always be on this show.”

With a virtual ceremony, things will be completely different, and no one knows what to expect. There won’t be a red carpet, long-drawn-out acceptance speeches, or the initial shocked reactions when a winner is announced.

However, the producers of the award ceremony hope to keep the suspense going by figuring out a way to call the winners, informing them of their new accolade at the same time as viewers at home.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“We really love this sort of pure reaction,” Smith continued. “We found ways to really be able to capture it. … We’re finding access to athletes and celebrities that, in some way, will surprise the audience.”

As far as performances go, music and comedic-monologues will still be incorporated into the ceremony.

In a statement, Rob King, ESPN Senior Vice President and editor at large, also spoke on the event and what it could mean to the sports-world in the future.

“On this side of the pandemic, it’s hard to really care about that,” King said regarding there not being much room for jokes aimed at the athletes for the biggest viral moments of the year in the sports world. “In the not-too-distant future after the show airs, we’ll see a return to live sports that will drive a sense of hope. … We hope to have this show be really reflective of that.”

The coronavirus spread worldwide in mid-March, forcing there to be a halt in production for this year’s ceremony. However, everyone involved in putting the show’s magic together has made the best of an unfortunate and unprepared situation.

“Typically, we are all shoulder to shoulder and looking through cuts and arguing through story ideas,” Smith said. “We found a different way to connect with each other.”

The winning bid came on Friday night at an impressive $240,000. That is $208,000 more than the highest bid was Friday morning. The initial bid was set at $10,000, NBC Sports Northwest reported.

According to NBC Sports Northwest, the #ALLINCHALLENGE has raised over $19 million.
