Ted Cruz is being slammed again after making jokes about his Mexico trip during a conservative conference.

On Friday, during his Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech, Texas U.S. Senator Ted Cruz made light of his trip to Cancun amid the severe Texas snowstorm that occurred nearly two weeks ago. The storm may be the costliest disaster in the state’s history, possibly exceeding the $125 billion in damage that Hurricane Harvey left behind in 2017.

“God bless CPAC. I gotta say Orlando is awesome. It’s not as nice as Cancun. But it’s nice,” Cruz told the crowd.

During the speech, he also called mask policies “dumb” and mocked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s account of the fatal Capitol riot in January.

Democrats demanded that Cruz resigns after photos circulated online showing him on a flight to Cancun while the state of Texas battled the unprecedented snowstorms that resulted in widespread water and power outages.

Following politicians and Texas residents slamming Cruz for abandoning his state, he issued a statement claiming that he took the trip “to be a good dad” to his children.

His insensitive comments at the conference reignited the outrage, with many people taking to Twitter to air him out.

One user wrote, “Ted Cruz opens his CPAC set with a joke about going to Cancun, but leaves out the callback about the 11-year-old boy who froze to death in his trailer while Ted’s kids sunned themselves at the Ritz.”

As of Friday, he had not issued a statement regarding his heartless jokes during the conference.

Travis Scott and his Cactus Jack Foundation have come together with the city of Houston to supply hot meals to residents.

The emergency food program will supply 50,000 hot meals to Houston citizens who have been impacted by Texas’ severe snowstorm earlier this month.

Scott’s foundation, Mayor Sylvester Turner, and the Houston Health Foundation will join local organizations to distribute the meals. These include The Black Service Chamber, The National Association of Christian Churches, and several restaurant owners.

The free meal program will assist people with disabilities, low-income citizens, unemployed citizens, senior citizens, high-risk and/or homebound adults, and families with children under the age of 18. Residents must live in one of thirty high-priority ZIP codes, which the City of Houston has identified.

Millions of Texas citizens lost power and access to water for days after the snowstorm overwhelmed the state’s electric grid. Several deaths were also reported, with multiple people freezing to death or succumbing to monoxide poisoning when trying to heat their homes using risky alternative methods when the electricity went down.
