YFN Lucci was denied bond last Tuesday, and he will remain in Fulton County jail.

The rapper was indicted on gang-related racketeering counts as well as claims of criminal murder.

This morning, Lucci took to Instagram to maintain his innocence against the RICO charges against him.

The statement read: “Thank you all for your prayers and continued support. I am still incarcerated right now but am maintaining my innocence. To all my fans who have continued to show love and support, ill have some new music and content on the way!” With the caption that said, “I appreciate all the support! #Freeme”

On April 30, YFN Lucci was identified in a gang-related racketeering indictment along with 11 others. The rapper has since surrendered to authorities and is being held at Fulton County Jail.

When the 105-count indictment was released, Lucci, born Rayshawn Bennett, was out on parole after being charged with murder.

On May 10, he handed himself over to the authorities. The charges against Lucci include aggravated assault, armed robbery, property destruction, murder, stealing, and more. The charges were revealed after a months-long investigation into the actions of the 12 people and their links to the Blood gang. The indictment includes the previous murder charge Lucci was facing.

Drew Findling, Lucci’s attorney, previously denied that his client is a gang member and insisted that he is innocent. He said, “He’s not guilty of any crime that’s referenced in the previous charge and now in this indictment.”

Findling says that Lucci was driving in a car with friends when shots were fired at them and that he is not responsible for the murder. According to the prosecutor, someone in the car’s backseat reportedly returned fire, killing one person in the process.

Lucci reportedly violated his release terms by going to a strip club and messing with his ankle monitor after being released on $500,000 bail for the aforementioned murder charge. He also tested positive for marijuana and opiates, which was a violation of his bond.

Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci is one of a dozen Blood gang members named in a 105-count racketeering indictment. Prosecutors said Lucci’s social media and songs were used as evidence for the charges. 

“I think that it sends a significant message, a profound message that regardless of your status that the City of Atlanta and Fulton County in partnership is coming after you if you violate the crimes in our county, in our city,” Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant said.

Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is currently out on bond for an unrelated murder charge. The 29-year-old will be required to turn himself in for the new charges, which all fall under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

“This indictment is unprecedented. Period,” Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told a local news outlet.

According to the indictment, the allegations against Lucci include assaulting someone by strangulation, tampering with evidence of homicide by concealing a crime scene and vehicle by hiding it, and encouraging the striking and kicking of a person for playing rival gang music.

Willis told the outlet that her team used the rapper’s “Shine On” music video to tie Lucci to fellow rapper Bloody Jay. He is also named in the indictment. The song reportedly contains lyrics promoting gang activity.

His attorney, Drew Findling, denies that Lucci is a gang member.

Authorities say that 29-year-old Atlanta rapper YRN Lucci is accused of being the driver in a gang-related drive-by shooting that left one man dead and another wounded.

A day after Atlanta police announced murder charges against Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, he turned himself in.

On Dec. 10, police say that Lucci and other “gang members” had driven through a rival gang territory where two other people had opened fire inside the vehicle, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported citing an arrest warrant.

Police said that rivals returned fire, hitting James Adams, 28, in the head. Adams was then “manually ejected” from the vehicle, and his body was later found lying in the road by police; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kevin Wright, 32, arrived at a fire station later that day with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He did survive.

Police said that during the shooting, Ra’von Boyd, 23, was in the car as well. In the incident, Boyd and a 17-year-old juvenile were accused, and both were arrested in Miami.

On Tuesday, a warrant was issued for Bennett’s arrest, charging him with murder, aggravated assault, engaging in illegal street gang activity, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

Before turning himself in to the police on Wednesday, Lucci released his latest music video on his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

His attorney, Drew Findling, said the “review of the initial evidence” presented “no basis for any criminal charges.”

Lucci is best known for his 2016 “Key to the Streets” song featuring the Migos rap group based in the Atlanta area.

Atlanta police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to rapper YFN Lucci’s arrest. He is wanted in connection to a fatal shootout that took place in Atlanta last month.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Lucci, real name Rayshawn Bennett, is wanted for murder, aggravated assault, participating in criminal street gang activity, and for a weapons charge, police said Tuesday.  

On December 10, James Adams, 28, was found with a gunshot wound to the head just after 5 p.m. Shortly after, a second gunshot victim turned up at a nearby fire station. It was determined the shootings were related.

Anyone with information on Bennett’s whereabouts is asked to call Atlanta police.

Baller Alert caught up with YFN Lucci via Zoom, who was posted in the A in high spirits with his project out for the world to hear. Read below as we discuss the new project, the cover art, rooting for Jeezy in the VERZUZ, his new Maybach truck, his take on the rap game, his purpose, a forthcoming R&B project, and more!

Wish Me Well 3 out now! How are you feeling?

I’m feeling good, it’s going.

How was creating it during quarantine? 

Not gonna lie, this shit ain’t what I anticipated at all. The creative process, thank God it’s still Corona because I was able to sit down and focus on the album. Make sure every song’s good, the way it flows. We did two cover shoots to get the cover right, shout out to Mike Miller for that. He shot a lot of Tupac covers and pictures. Since I went with the title Me Against The World, I wanted to work with somebody who worked with Pac so we could get the bid up. I put my heart, my soul, everything into this. Shout out to all my features: Rick Ross, Layton Greene, Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Yungeen Ace, Mozzy, Mulatto. I’m happy the project finally came out, glad the fans are fucking with it. Shit was #1 in the whole genre for a whole week. We released the “Wet” remix video with Mulatto, we got Desi Banks in the video. We been working and grinding.

How was shooting the video with Mulatto at Atlanta?

Shout out to Bpace who shot the video. It was fun, we shot it on the same day they did the VERZUZ with Jeezy and Guwop. We’re talking about that whole shit the whole day, watching that shit. We ended up shooting all night, a dope experience. Desi came through, he had a lot of great skits and videos. That shit was dope. 

Who were you rooting for in the VERZUZ, Jeezy or Guwop?

Music-wise, I was going forJeezy. I fuck with both of them, but I like Jeezy’s music. Jeezy got a lot of more songs I can relate to. 

Favorite Jeezy song?

I got a lot, he was bringing them out. “Air Forces.”

Who would you battle in a VERZUZ?

I’ll let the people pick, I can’t really say. I’ll let the people pick. Shit I’ma be ready, I got hits so I ain’t trippin’.

What does the cover art represent? 

Me Against The World, you got me on top of the world. You’ll see I got everything, but I’m on there with my head down because more money, more problems. Where I’m at right now and how I feel in the game when I first came in, you get so much love from everybody. Once you stop putting out music, the love switches. They switch over and go to other places. You know this is how the game is when you need a favor again, n*ggas ain’t giving out favors. You know how that shit go. We shot the cover in my old hood, I went to all the places I stayed there. We brought the Rolls Royce out to show them. Mike Miller flew in from LA, we were working. It was a vibe. 

Speaking of Rolls Royce, I know you got the 2021 Maybach.

That motherfucker hard man, the hardest truck in the world. I drove it, shout out to Fly (CEO of Think It’s A Game Records). One of the hardest cars ever, shit’s like a spaceship on the inside. 

How’s it feel to be the first person in the US to have this car? 

That’s dope as fuck, shout out to the label. They’re showing how proud they are with me, I gladly appreciate that shit. Maybach truck, n*gga ain’t ever get no gift that big. [laughs] Damn, is that my shit? I was excited, nobody ever gave me the keys to a brand new Maybach before. 

How many cars do you have?

I got 6 cars. 

Talk about getting Boodie Badazz on “Hate’s Real.”

Boosie did his verse at my studio, shout out to Boosie. My engineer put it together. I had originally rapped on that beat, I did a verse. That shit was hard, but I couldn’t come up with no hook. My engineer took it home with him and when he came back, he had Boosie’s interview playing through it. Damn, that shit’s hard as fuck. Boosie came to the studio one day, we played it for him. Boosie heard that shit and went straight in the booth and did it. He said “I gotta do this shit,” it was turnt. 

Man when the world heard Boosie got shot…

That shit crazy man, crazy ass world. Can’t predict what’s going to happen tomorrow, that shit’s crazy. 

Highlight from the “Part II” video shoot?

We shot that video, then we came back and shot another scene smashing the car. That shit was dope, shout out to GT. GT’s been shooting a lot of my videos lately, they’ve been coming out so dope. We had fun at the video, we shot it in one location. Every car in there is mine, no prop cars. That’s my shit. We had a good time, we rocked out like we always do.

How’d it feel to break the windshield?

That shit was fun, not gonna lie. We ain’t trippin’ on no cars, see we got the brand new truck.

Do you got strict rules in the truck?

We ain’t really get that far yet. Ain’t no rules, but they know there’s no eating and drinking.

How was the “Both Of Us” shoot with Rozay, Layton Greene, and Reginae?

That video shoot was fun. Shout out to Rozay, my girl, Layton. Hitmaka came through, we were enjoying the moment. Shout out to Edgar who shot the video, we made the best of it. Wanted to give it that dope Bonnie and Clyde vibe and we did it. 

How do you view the rap game in 2020?

Ain’t nothing really changed, there’s a lot of rapers right now. I ain’t biased, I like all types of music. Shoutout to everybody making music right now. Whoever’s making music, have a purpose man. That’s it, get your message across. Don’t be rapping just to be rapping for the fame and the money. Have a message, talk about your story where people will all the way remember. 

What would you say your purpose is?

My purpose is getting my message through: inspire kids to want to be better. For them to not be scared to tell their stories so other people won’t make those same mistake. Whatever I learn, I put it in my music so I can teach my fans so they can learn with me. I hope they learn and listen, take in that shit. I want them to know there’s another way out besides what we see on TV. 

You have a song called “Dope Game,” what was a young YFN Lucci like hustling in the streets?

Like any other hustler, a street n*gga in the street running around with who they thought were their friends. From doing dumb shit, hustling, parked cars, selling shit, trying to get something. I’ve seen a lot, I lost my partners to the dope game. Some got killed, some got years in prison. It’s all about choices, it’s your choice. Everybody don’t get caught but if you get caught, you gotta deal with the consequences.

Did you think you’d be here where you are today?

I always wanted to be this artist, you feel me? Not gonna say I can see the future, but I seen me being a big rapper. 

What can we expect next?

I’m working on a girl project, it’s going to be dope. Thinking about releasing it in February. It’s an R&B project, switch the style. I got a large women fanbase so I gotta shout out to my women, give them something to listen to. A lot of records like “Both of Us,” “Wet,” shit like that. 

YFN Lucci is a mainstay in today’s rap game. The “Everyday We Lit” rapper puts on for his hometown of Atlanta, rising as one of the frontrunners of this new wave of melodic hip-hop. Most recently, he released his new mixtape titled HIStory, consisting of 16 tracks full of anthems for the streets.

Now, he sits down with Baller Alert for our latest episode of Sesh w/ Shirley. Catching up over a @gascola joint, Lucci discusses the making of his hit single, “Everyday We Lit,” friendships with Nipsey Hussle and Pop Smoke, doing a whole tape with Mozzy, his new single “Wet,” and more!

Speaking on the passing of Pop Smoke, Lucci said, “It affected the whole music industry. No one wants to wake up and see another artist dead, that shit keeps happening. We become targets. That shit crazy, long live Pop Smoke. Long live everybody, Nipsey. It’s a lot of people.”

Just days after news surfaced of the overwhelming chaos that erupted in Miami, including several celebrity arrests, shootings, and overall mayhem, TMZ reports YFN Lucci was reportedly targeted in a drive-by shooting, less than 700 miles away. 

According to the publication, Lucci’s red Mercedes SUV was shot up on Friday in Atlanta, leaving one man injured. Law enforcement sources say the victim said the gunfire erupted while he was driving, and although multiple shots pierced through the vehicle, he was luckily only hit in his left shoulder. 

The car, on the other hand, was covered with bullet holes, as the shots fired through the passenger windows, the side doors, the rear window, the back door, the bumper and one of the tires. 

According to TMZ, although the car is registered to Lucci’s mother, sources in the city say it’s definitely Lucci’s car. However, he has yet to comment on the matter.
