2017 has been monumental for most of us. It has been a year of unfathomable losses and unimaginable wins. The same can be said in Hip Hop however, the latter is more true. Hip Hop received W after W and as we close it out, BA has selected five moments that were the most epic.

Donald Glover shouts out Migos. Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino, kicked the year off right at the Golden Globes
thanking Migos during his win for Best Comedy series for his FX series ‘Atlanta.’ Giving that nod to the group caused a 243% increase in streams on the Spotify platform.

Cardi B is a moment in Hip Hop. 2017 has been an epic year for her. She hit number one on the billboard with “Bodak Yellow,” which broke the 20-year reign Lauryn Hill had. To culminate her year, Cardi became engaged to her boo #Offset.

Chance the Rapper wins three Grammys. A rapper winning a Grammy isn’t a big deal, but when the rapper wins them for a mixtape that was streaming-only, that’s pretty epic. Coloring Book is the first
of its kind to win a Grammy.

Jay Z releases 4:44. Hov continues to push the envelope with his astute business sense and music. We’ve come to expect great music from Mr.Carter, but no one expected the vulnerability 4:44 brought. Laced with spiritual food for life, 4:44 took Jay from legend to icon.

Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka’Oir’s wedding. As much as we would like to believe all male rappers will never settle down, Gucci Mane showed ya’ll that isn’t true. When a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing. Their lavish wedding and opulent gift giving was made for TV, but what was even more special was the bond these two displayed.

There are plenty of other moments in Hip Hop. What were your favorites?
