Tracee Ellis Ross

In a perfect world, men and women would receive equal pay. African American women would be presented the same opportunities as their white counterparts. Rejection would be based on qualifications rather than race.

Unfortunately, this world is far from perfect, however, there are people, more specifically women, who have dedicated their time, money and education to make a positive change. They’ve used their experiences and their encounters with injustices to fight and/or create more opportunities for their children and their children’s children, in an effort to make the world a better place. They’ve put our pain and problems on their backs and created space for change, new opportunities for our brothers and sisters to excel and succeed in a world that is designed against us. This is #BlackExcellence. These are #BallerificWomen. ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of those special women is Tracee Ellis Ross, who is best known for her role on ‘Girlfriends’, and now the ABC hit ‘Blackish.’
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
About 18-years-ago, Ross entered our lives as our favorite ‘Girlfriend,’ Joan Clayton. Everything about Joan made viewers love and relate to her more. The woman that wants it all, from the career, children, friends, and of course the man. Her character showed us that friends will have issues with one another but you overcome the trials and tribulations with time. But also, you outgrow people in order for your life to show progress.

On the hit show ‘Blackish,’ Tracee is back at it again with balancing a career but now with a family. For her role on the show, Ross won the 2015 and 2016 NAACP Image Award for “Best Actress in a Comedy Series.” In 2016, Ross was nominated for an Emmy for Best Actress, Comedy, for her work on “Black-ish“, making her the first black woman in 30 years to be nominated.

Tracee Ellis Ross is not only the daughter of the legendary songstress, Diana Ross, but an actress, a fashionista, and a motivational speaker. Ross continues to show us why we love her in the first place. She’s that “Girlfriend” we all love to have. Not only is she a phenomenal woman but she is also a Ballerific one too.
