Death Threats from Chris Brown and Tyga Fans Have Forced Chvrches to Increase Security At Shows

Chvrches singer, Lauren Mayberry, revealed that the band has been receiving death and rape threats, following their recent comments on Chris Brown and Tyga.

Last week, the Scottish band publicly disapproved of Marshello’s decision to collaborate with Tyga and Chris Brown, addressing past allegations of abuse and sexual assault against the two.

“We weren’t picking on Chris Brown for the sake of picking on Chris Brown,” she expressed in a video obtained by TMZ. “We would be really hypocritical if we worked with somebody and didn’t say anything about what they did immediately after that fact or we give money from our headlining shows to girls rock camps, and when I’m a patron of Rape Crisis Scotland. You can’t do that, it’s morally incorrect.

“I don’t know, I think that domestic abuse is wrong,” she added, “But apparently that does not go over well with the Breezy fans.”

Both Chris Brown and Tyga took to social media in response to the band’s initial comments, and it looks like their supporters weren’t here for Chvrches either. Following their exchange on social media, Mayberry informed the public on the changes they’ve had to make for security. She also released images of abusive messages, including death and rape threats from alleged fans of the “Light it Up” duo.

“I am not staying in my own home when we finish tour because the threats we have received have reached such a scale,” Mayberry shared on Twitter. “We have to have the police at our shows now. If that’s what I deserve for saying mainstream music should be more morally conscious, then so be it.”

“And again, it is not you who is having to have police presence at shows and advance security in their actual own real life outside of a band persona.”

Chris Brown and Tyga have yet to address Mayberry’s new claims.
