Donald Trump Says Windmills Cause Cancer, Lower Property Values And Kill Birds

Donald Trump says windmills cause cancer along with other things.

Among the many things Trump hates, windmills have now been added to that list. The celebrity-in-chief exclaimed that windmills cause cancer, kill birds and drop property values on homes. He also doesn’t want them near his golf courses. “Hillary wanted to put up wind,” said Trump during a fundraiser for Republicans in Washington on Tuesday.

Trump went on to say that “wind turbines” don’t adequately provide wind energy, highlighting his doubts about climate change. He also mentioned that anyone who has a windmill near their home is in trouble. “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75% in value,” said Trump.

“And they say the noise causes cancer. You told me that one, OK,” he continued, as he then made circles with his hands and a noise with his mouth. However, according to CNN, his comment is not supported by any evidence whatsoever.

“And of course it’s like a graveyard for birds,” Trump added. “If you love birds, you’d never want to walk under a windmill because it’s a very sad, sad sight. It’s like a cemetery. We put a little statue for the poor birds. It’s true. You know in California if you shoot a bald eagle they put you in jail for five years. And yet the windmills they wipe them all out. It’s true. They wipe them out. It’s terrible,” Trump said. While wind turbines do kill birds, studies have shown power lines cause birds to die more than windmills.

Trump’s speech comes amid his attempt to promote his new budget, which is likely to pass. Trump proposed cutting federal funding for research into renewable energy at the Department of Energy by 70 percent.
