Former NFL Lineman Barry Bennett And Wife Found Dead, Police Searching For Son As Suspect

Former NFL player Barry Bennett and his wife were found dead in their Minnesota home; authorities are currently searching for the couple’s son, who they say is now a suspect.

On Wednesday, a friend found the bodies of NFL lineman Barry Bennett, 63, and Carol, 66, in their Long Prairie. Their home is just two hours northwest of the Twin Cities. After the couple never returned several calls and texts, the friend went to perform a welfare check on Tuesday. The Todd’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that the deaths have not been determined, saying the couple was found dead “under suspicious circumstances.”

According to the Sheriff’s office, 22-year-old #DylanBennett was identified as a suspect. Police discovered the vehicle sought in connection with him outside of Minnesota. Bennett first played for the New Orleans Saints back in 1978 and later joined the New York Jets. He went to the Minnesota Vikings next in 1988.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant and is searching for Dylan Bennett, 22, who is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, without premeditation, in connection with the deaths of his parents, Barry and Carol Bennett.

According to ESPN, Dylan had a plane ticket for a flight from Columbus to Cancun, Mexico. Authorities believe Dylan Bennett was in Mexico on Thursday, based on phone usage.

After the news of the tragic loss of Barry Bennett, the Vikings released a statement on Friday that they were “saddened by the tragic loss.” “Our thoughts are with their friends and family during this difficult time,” the team said on Twitter.
