Mariah Carey To Receive The Icon Award at The Billboard Music Awards

Mariah Carey is set to have all eyes on her during the upcoming Billboard Awards.

Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced that the legendary diva will receive the 2019 Icon Award. Not only will she be taking over the stage to be handed her honor, but she’ll also be gracing the stage with a medley performance of her greatest tracks.

It’s no shocker that Mariah has been recognized for this amazing achievement. Actually, it may be long overdue. During her almost three-decade-long career, her musical success has been incomparable. Billboard noted Carey had had a total of 18 number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 list. That made her ” the only artist to top the chart in every year of any decade…Additionally, her 79 total weeks ruling the Hot 100 are the most of any artist. Six of her albums claimed the No. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 albums chart. ”

Mariah joins the iconic ranks of Neil Diamond, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Prince, Stevie Wonder and…Jennifer Lopez.
