Mellody Hobson To Become Starbucks Vice Chairwoman

After several incidents that have taken place at Starbucks this year, the company is making several changes within the month. Last month, the company closed their stores for Racial Bias training to teach their employees how to treat people as one.

Now the company will be adding Mellody Hobson as the Vice Chairwoman, making her one of the very few African Americans in history to occupy such a role at a Fortune 500 company. According to Black Enterprise, Hobson is one of the most respected and knowledgeable black business leaders.
Hobson’s resume speaks for itself with being a director at a number of public companies and institutions: DreamWorks Animation, Groupon, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., and Starbucks Corporation. She was also the first African American woman to head The Economic Club of Chicago.
Mellody Hobson will take her new position as the Vice Chairwoman at the end of June after longtime chairman Howard Schultz steps down.
