R. Kelly’s Team Is Collecting Money From Anonymous Friends To Cover Costs Of Michael Jackson’s Former Defense Attorney

R. Kelly wants Tom Mesereau, the attorney who got #MichaelJackson acquitted on child molestation charges in 2005, to defend him too. Kelly wants his help so bad, that his team has been hitting up everyone they know of for financial help to cover Mesereau’s costs.

Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ industry contacts of Kelly’s have been in touch with his team and expressed a desire to help with his legal fees. The people have agreed to help anonymously so the singer can hire Mesereau as his counsel.

However, the sources said there’s a catch. Kelly must fire his current lawyer, Steven Greenberg before any money is dished out. Greenberg called the whole situation “a complete load of crap.”

Fans of Kelly have also reportedly inquired about how they can financially contribute.
