With the coronavirus pandemic having everyone at home thinking about people they haven’t spoken to in recent years, Raven Symoné and Kiely Williams of The Cheetah Girls, took the time to settle their differences.
On Thursday, Symoné went live on Instagram, inviting Williams to join the chat to discuss what led to them not speaking since The Cheetah Girls 2 and what caused Symone to opt-out of doing the third and final film in the franchise.
During their conversation, the duo came to the realization that Williams was “messy” in her younger years.
“Because of you, I get to talk to you and heal a wound from that time period when we were younger that I probably wouldn’t get to do if I didn’t understand that, you know what, you like to shake sh*t up,” Raven said.
“[I’m] a fire starter, for sure. It’s an acquired taste,” Williams responded.
The conversation then dove deeper into their issues as Williams asked Symoné why exactly she chose not to participate in the third installment of the series, especially since at the time, they had become a real group, making music and touring around the world.
“The cliquish way that there was during that movie made me feel excluded from my original team,” Raven responded. “Not that it was strong, but I felt excluded”
Williams also joked that the third film didn’t do as well as the first two films because Symoné was no longer involved.
Symoné then begin to share that Williams made her mad once when she told Raven that she auditioned for ‘The Cosby Show’ and didn’t get the part like she did.
But the two put it all out on the table and were able to apologize to one another for any pain they may have caused each other.
“I would never try to hurt you on purpose,” Kiely said.
“Well, I appreciate that, sweetheart, and I release any pain towards you that I have. I cancel, clear, and delete it,” Symoné responded.
Symoné then suggested to Williams to make up with her former best friend and group mate in girl group 3LW and Cheetah Girls, Adrienne Bailon.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“You got to talk to Adrienne, dude,” Raven suggested.
When asked why she had to be the one to reach out to Bailon, Symoné responded: “Because you’re the firecracker!”
”No, she didn’t come to my dad’s funeral or call me when he died. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be messy. I’m being for real with you,” Williams answered. “You can say what you want about me and how you felt about me, but you can’t ever say that I didn’t ride for Adrienne. …I didn’t do anything.”
Symoné then helped calm Williams down as she noticeably began to get upset, saying that though Bailon wasn’t there when she needed her most, doesn’t mean the two may not still have a connection.
Symoné explained to Williams how her own best friend didn’t even invite her to her wedding when the friend met her husband through her.
“But I still talk to her because the history that we have for one another is so thick, she knows a part of you that nobody else knows,” Symoné explained. “But y’all prideful asses need to calm down, take a pill for a second and say, ‘I’m pissed at you, but let’s talk about it.’ Just like I said with you. ‘I’m pissed about it, but let’s get it out like grown women.’”
