Last year, Roseanne Barr was infamously booted from her namesake television show over her racist comments about former Obama administration adviser, Valerie Jarrett. Although Barr eventually apologized for the tweet that led to the cancellation of her “Roseanne” reboot and reruns, she is now blaming Forever First Lady, Michelle Obama, for her unemployment.
In a recent interview with UK’s Sunday Times Magazine, Barr opened up about the controversial moment and accused Obama of pulling strings to get her fired.
“‘She said, ‘This tweet is unforgivable.’ That’s what I was told,” Barr said of Obama’s alleged response to her racially-charged tweets about Jarret, which read: “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby = vj.”
“I tend to believe it because the woman who fired me is now working with the Obamas at Netflix,” Barr added, referencing then-president of ABC Entertainment Group Channing Dungey, who is now the VP of original content at Netflix.
Although Barr suggested Obama had a hand in her firing last year, she explained in the Sunday Times interview that the network had no issue in following through with Obama’s request because of its longstanding issue with her support of Donald Trump.
“They hate powerful women and they hate powerful, deplorable women and I do consider myself deplorable,” she said. “Deplorable is the greatest thing Hillary ever called us because it empowered a revolution – we are deplorable to her kind. Of course, all working-class people are deployable to her because it was working-class people that elected Trump,” whom she called a “genius “ and a “real deep thinker.”
As Barr continued, she said the racist tweets, which according to her were “very stupid,” came after a night of Ambient and beer, and was meant to highlight Obama administration’s link to Iran.
“I should have written it backwards,” she said. “it came out dyslexic. It should have been, ‘Valerie Jarrett’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood have now allowed Iran’s government to remain, as in the movie Planet of the Apes.’”
