Zendaya Coleman Drops Out of Aaliyah Biopic

Earlier this month Zendaya Coleman was casted to play Aaliyah in the upcoming Lifetime biopic that was scheduled to release this Fall (click here is you missed it). Though the actress was very honored for her upcoming role, seems things have changed.

Following a petition, criticism about her not being “black enough” or old enough to play the role of Aaliyah. Zendaya has dropped out of her role starring as Aaliyah.

The actress rep cited “production issues” as the reason for her leaving the movie.

E! Newsreports, there were production issues, including problems obtaining the rights to Aaliyah’s music.

The project was set to begin filming this summer. Wonder what Lifetime will come up with now. Guess Aaliyah’s family is happy.
