The Chrisean Rock drama continues, with legal troubles stacking up again. This time, a judge is weighing whether she should be ordered to pay six figures over an alleged assault that reportedly happened at an event. According to MyNewsLA, plaintiff Lashala Irby testified on Friday, June 26, in Burbank Superior Court as she seeks a $250,000 default judgment against the reality star and rapper. Judge Frank M. Tavelman took the request under submission after no one appeared on Chrisean’s behalf. Rock, 26, has reportedly not participated in the case.
Irby claims the alleged attack happened on January 22, 2023, at a show premiere party on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in North Hollywood. The civil suit, filed in October 2023, includes claims of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and premises liability. Zeus Networks was also sued for negligence, as they were hosting the event.
Irby testified that the encounter started off calmly before things allegedly turned violent.
“After discussing a prior working relationship with [Rock], I turned around and began to walk away,” Irby testified. “Suddenly and without warning, [Rock] physically assaulted me with such force that I suffered severe injuries and damage.”
She also told the court that the alleged assault being recorded and circulated online made the trauma worse.
“I was violently assaulted by a well-known celebrity, and that assault was captured on video that continues to circulate across the internet to this day,” Irby said. “Knowing that strangers can watch one of the most terrifying and humiliating moments of my life at any time has been emotionally shattering.”
Irby added that the public spread of the video has “magnified my suffering in a way that words can hardly capture.”
As for the $250,000 request, Irby said the amount “reflects the severity of the injuries I suffered at [Rock’s] hands, the overwhelming pain and suffering she caused me, and the malicious and unprovoked nature of her brutal attack.”
While Chrisean remains the sole remaining defendant, MyNewsLA confirmed that Zeus Networks LLC and property owner MGP XI-GPI Laurel Plaza LLC reached a tentative collective $35,000 settlement with Irby.
This case adds another layer to Chrisean’s already messy legal timeline. In 2024, she was sued by James Wright Chanel, a backup singer and dancer connected to Tamar Braxton’s tour, over an alleged backstage attack at The Novo in Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles Times, Wright accused Rock of repeatedly punching him in the face while wearing rings, allegedly breaking two of his teeth. Months later, the outlet reported that Rock pleaded no contest in the related criminal case and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 12 months of probation.
Her legal issues did not stop there. It was also widely reported that Rock was facing an Oklahoma warrant tied to a 2022 drug-related case. She was jailed in Craig County after being extradited, with authorities saying troopers found roughly one pound of cannabis during the original case. Oklahoma had issued a felony fugitive warrant before she was extradited.
There has also been another civil assault-related filing connected to Chrisean. Actress Rama Montakhabi filed a complaint against Rock and Zeus Network, accusing them of battery, assault, and emotional distress tied to an alleged encounter at an awards-show after-party.
For Chrisean, the headline is no longer just about one viral altercation. It is about a growing trail of lawsuits, criminal proceedings, warrants, settlements, and courtroom no-shows that continue to follow her from reality TV chaos into real-life consequences.
Judge Tavelman’s ruling on Irby’s $250,000 request remains pending.
