Taffy Babii has turned a name from an earlier chapter of her life into a growing identity in rap. During a recent appearance on The Baller Alert Show, the Chicago-born artist revealed that “Taffy” was actually the name she used when she started dancing, long before fans began connecting it to her music career.

When the conversation turned to whether Taffy was her real name, the rapper clarified that her first name is Monique. Asked where Taffy came from, she explained, “Taffy came from when I started dancing. That was, that was my dance name.”The identity stuck even after she moved into a different phase of her career. The “Babii” portion came later, and Taffy Babii said it was not originally intended to be part of her official rap name.
“My rap name is just straight Taffy, no baby, but they just put the baby on there because in the song I said Taffy Baby, Taffy baby,” she explained during the interview. According to Taffy, listeners liked the added phrase and essentially ran with it. What started as an extra part of a song eventually became closely associated with the rapper herself.
The story behind the Taffy Babii name also connects two different chapters of her journey. Taffy was born in Chicago and raised between Chicago and Atlanta. She previously recorded under the name Xonique, a play on her first name, Monique, and released the “Xotic Mami” project in 2024 before changing her stage identity.
Her musical profile changed significantly in 2025. “Bank Run” and “Birthday Song” were among her releases before “Feeling On My Body,” featuring Miss Asia, became her breakout record. Billboard later described “Feeling on My Body” as Taffy’s breakout hit and reported that a remix featuring PLUTO helped push the record further across TikTok.
Taffy Babii has continued building on that momentum in 2026. She released her 12-track album “Taffyland” on July 17, 2026. The project includes songs such as “Taffy Twirl,” “Kissin & Cuddlin,” “Clap Season,” “Bill Money,” “Chatty Patty,” and “Bussit.”
For fans discovering Taffy Babii through her viral music, the Baller Alert interview fills in an important piece of her story. “Taffy” was not a carefully manufactured rap alias. It came from her dancing days, followed her into music, and eventually grew into Taffy Babii after listeners embraced a phrase she was already using in her songs.
