Remember, Fyre Festival? The infamous disaster of everything you don’t want to happen at a festival coming to life? ⠀⠀⠀
Ja Rule is being sued for his involvement, and he wants to be dismissed from the class action lawsuit.
Though the festival advertised a luxurious traveling experience equipped with rockstars and all of your favorite rappers, all it delivered on was being the trip from hell.
Attendees claimed there was nothing luxurious about the festival’s activities, even saying they were fed cheese sandwiches.
Ja Rule, one of the festival’s organizers, claims the attendees have no grounds to sue him. In court documents, Ja Rule says he is being personally targeted because he has the most money. He believes the issue is with Fyre, as that’s who actually sold the tickets. The rapper even claims to have only promoted the event on Instagram twice.
Ja Rule argues that the “food may not have been the gourmet food that Plaintiffs were expecting, but that complaint should be addressed through a breach of contract claim against the parties to the contract,” not him.⠀
Plaintiffs complained they were not even given shelter once arriving in the Bahamas, which Ja Rule also says isn’t true. Again, the rapper claims it may not have been “luxury villas” guests were expecting, but it was shelter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ja Rule is demanding he not be held liable for any wrongdoing, including paying damages.
The case is ongoing.
Billy McFarland, another festival organizer, pleaded guilty in March to two counts of wire fraud related to defrauding investors and a ticket broker through Fyre Festival. He is awaiting sentencing.
