More legal issues are coming for Brad Pitt. The actor and his foundation “Make It Right” are being sued by New Orleans residents who claim the homes built for them “were deficiently constructed and built.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Three years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the lower ninth ward in New Orleans, Brad Pitt’s foundation stepped in and helped rebuild their community by constructing and building 109 homes deemed storm-safe, solar-powered, highly insulated and “green.”
The lawsuit was originated by residents Lloyd Francis and Jennifer Decuir, who claim to represent all residents who purchased homes from the foundation. Their lawyer, Ron Austin, stated the residents “were forced to file this lawsuit because the Make It Right Foundation built substandard homes that are deteriorating at a rapid pace while the homeowners are stuck with mortgages on properties that have diminished values,” according to People.
Francis and Decuir say they have reported problems with mold from trapped water, poor air ventilation, structural, electrical, plumbing issues and rotten wood, but the reports have gone unanswered or rectified. They also claim when residents repeatedly asked for home inspection reports, they were told they weren’t ready or were ignored outright.
No comments or statements have been made from Pitt or his team as of yet but close sources told People that, “Brad has confidence in the Make It Right team; he made a promise to the people of the Lower Ninth, and he intends to keep fulfilling it and to keep contributing money as he has been all this time.” The source adds that “repairs began months ago.”
