“Jokes on You” Nike Stock Hits All Time High After Colin Kaepernick Ad Controversy, LeBron James Reacts

Ha! “Jokes on you,” LeBron James said after ESPN’s Darren Rovell revealed Nike’s stock numbers in the wake of the Colin Kaepernick ad controversy. 

Earlier this month, the company released its 2-minute “Just Do It” spot, titled “Dream Crazy,” narrated by the former quarterback, who has faced criticisms for his silent, nonviolent protests against police brutality.

“If people say your dreams are crazy, if they laugh at what people think you can do, good,” Kaepernick said in the ad, as it continued its montage of inspirational sports-related stories and athletes. 

The commercial also shares a moment with Kaepernick and the American flag, where he says: “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” 

“Don’t ask if your dreams are crazy,” he said. “Ask if they’re crazy enough.” 

The release of Kaepernick’s ad, enraged racists across the nation. While many called for a boycott, others burned their branded gear in protest. 

Despite the outrage, Nike is making out great, in fact, business is booming. 

According to Rovell, Nike stock closed at $83.47, which is “an all-time high for the company.” 

The news seemed to excite a Nike lifer, who secured a lifetime deal with the company for more than $1 billion. James took to Twitter to highlight the news. 

“Well I mean I guess WE’RE on [Fire] #JokesonYou #NikeLifer.” 

In the meantime, Kaepernick’s commercial has earned more than 25 million views since its release.
