Former Biscayne Park Police Chief Pleads Guilty To Framing Black Teen For Burglaries, Told His Subordinates To Pin Crimes On Black People In General

As if police relations aren’t bad enough between Black people and law enforcement, now the truth that so many have known is finally coming to light. Many police precincts have been guilty of pinning crimes on innocent black people but it looks like federal prosecutors have their foot on the neck of Biscayne Park Police Department for targeting and framing African Americans in their community.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Police Chief Raimundo Atesiano admitted to framing a local 16-year-old known by the nickname “T.D.” for a string of home burglaries he did not commit back in 2013. Then to make matters worse, an officer under Atesiano’s supervision told internal investigators that they were instructed by their Chief to pin crimes on Black people in general.

⠀
“If they have burglaries that are open cases that are not solved yet, if you see anybody black walking through our streets and they have somewhat of a record, arrest them so we can pin them for all the burglaries,” Atesiano told his police force, according to the officer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An #FBI investigation against Atesiano and three of his former subordinates was ran and discovered that the chief had instructed employees in his police department to pin burglaries on black residents with criminal records in order to make it look like his department had a 100% clearance rate for home thefts, which according to law enforcement experts, is almost impossible to achieve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The three other officers, Guillermo Ravelo, Charlie Dayoub, and Raul Fernandez, previously pleaded guilty in separate cases related to the same framing charges. The three are scheduled to be sentenced next month while Atesiano waits until November 27 for his sentencing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Acting Assistant Attorney General John Gore issued a statement saying, “The right to be free from false arrests is fundamental to our #Constitution and system of justice. Law enforcement officers who abuse their authority and deny any individual this right will be held accountable. As the Chief of Police, Defendant Atesiano was trusted by his community to lead their police officers by example; he has failed his community and the officers of Biscayne Park.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#Miami Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle made a statement as well saying, “It is a deliberate injustice to intentionally charge and arrest an innocent man. Police Chief Raimundo Atesiano’s actions were intended to give his community a false sense of security and were a betrayal of his oath to protect the residents of Biscayne Park and all the people of Miami-Dade County.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
T.D, now an adult, has sued and taken Biscayne Park and every entity involved in his case to Federal court earlier this year. Justice MUST be served…correctly.
