In Celebration Of Trap Music’s 15th Anniversary T.I. Is Curating A Pop-Up Trap Museum In Atlanta

If you ever wanted to live a trap life you now have a chance. Atlanta rapper TI is building a pop-up trap museum in celebration of the genre’s 15-year anniversary.

Trap has greatly influenced music as well as the hip-hop culture for over ten years. For the birthday of T.I.’s “Trap Muzik” album, which was released in 2003, the Atlanta native is curating a pop-up museum in West Atlanta. Tip said his inspiration behind his album was to make an everlasting project.

“I wanted to make a classic. I knew I had to make timeless music, which could stand the test of time,” he told Noisey. “It was about showing that even if you were participating in felonious activities, there were still other things you needed to deal with: you’re not just drug dealing but also dealing with a relationship with your parents, your girlfriend, having a child too young and being looked down on by society as one thing, when you’re actually much more than that definition,” he added.

“You might have had a homeboy who just died, but he wasn’t even in the streets like that! Trap Muzik was kind of crystallizing this black experience into a piece of music,” he continued. Together, veteran hip-hop journalist Maurice Garland, creative artist DL Warfield and others are working together to bring the pop-up museum to life. Visitors will get a first-hand look at how trap grew and flourished throughout the years. The pop-up will feature videos and photos from Trap’s originators and newcomers like #YoungJeezy, #GucciMane, #RickRoss, #Future, #21Savage and more.

Fans will also have the opportunity to participate in an “Escape the Trap” room where guests will get clues and crack codes to help them come out of the installation. According to Vibe.com, The Trap Music Muzik Museum will open on September 30th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 630 Travis Street NW, Atlanta, GA.
