Ryan Coogler, co-writer and director of the historic, recording-breaking Marvel film, “Black Panther,” will be taking his talents to Wakanda to write and direct the forthcoming sequel, “Black Panther 2.”
According to Hollywood Reporter, Coogler quietly closed the deal to secure his role as the writer and director of the film, as the media franchise looked to keep its creative team intact for the follow-up film. However, it will take about a year to get the ball rolling, with production set to begin either late 2019 or early 2020. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As for a release date, according to the publication, there has not been an official announcement as Marvel is expected to release the next Avengers in May of 2019 and a new Spider-Man in July. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the meantime, Cooler has his hands full with other projects, which include his new drama, “Wrong Answer,” alongside “Black Panther” star Michael B. Jordan. In addition to that, he’s also executive producing the LeBron James “Space Jam” sequel and “Creed 2.”
