Real Houswives of Jersey star Giuseppe Giudice, aka “Joe,” will be deported back to Italy after serving a prison sentence for fraud.
On Wednesday, an immigration judge John Ellington ordered 46-year-old Giudice to be deported back to Italy, his place of birth, following his release from prison next year. If he wants to stay in the States, he has just 30 days to make his appeal. His fraud sentence stems from when he and his wife plead guilty to 41 counts of fraud for conspiring to defraud lenders to illegally obtain loans and mortgages back in 2014.
The Bravo couple was indicted on bankruptcy, mail, wire and bank fraud. Additionally, Giudice was indicted for failure to file taxes from 2004 to 2008, according to NBC News. Teresa served her 11-month sentence before Giudice in Danbury, Connecticut and was released in December 2015. Giudice served his 41-month sentence after she was released.
Teresa did not join her husband during his hearing on Wednesday and has remained quiet about the entire ordeal. However, she did mention that moving to Italy wouldn’t be a totally bad idea. “I mean, Italy’s a beautiful place to live,” she told host Andy Cohen in January on the Housewives reunion. “I wouldn’t mind, you know, I’m just saying. Listen, whatever God has planned for me, that’s what’s going to happen. I will embrace it the best I can.”
Giudice’s co-star, Caroline Manzo, stated how upset she was about the potential deportation. “Wow, this makes me sad. Joe has made mistakes, taken responsibility for his actions and has served his time. He has four beautiful girls that need their father in their lives, and my heart hurts for them,” she told E! News.
