All a man wanted in exchange for telling the police the location of his wife’s dead body was an Xbox.
#DouglasStewart, of Kalamazoo, Michigan was convicted of killing his wife of eight years back in 2011. Stewart, who knew where his estranged wife’s remains were, made a deal with authorities. If he led them to her body, they would have to give him an Xbox when he is sentenced to prison.
Stewart led police and medical examiners to a wooded area of Wakeshma Township in Kalamazoo County on Monday (Oct. 22). There, authorities found the remains of Stewart’s estranged wife Venus Stewart in a five-foot-deep hole. According to Insider.com, Medical anthropologists are performing dental and X-ray tests at Western Michigan University to confirm the identity of the remains.
Venus’ body was found just 15 minutes away from her home, where Stewart murdered her. At the time, Stewart was 29 when he was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder in connection to Venus Stewart’s death, according to MLive. Stewart was found guilty after a witness testified that he put Venus in a headlock until blood dripped from her nose. However, despite Stewart’s conviction, his wife’s body was never found.
Now, as a result of the discovery, Stewart has been rewarded with an Xbox that he will be able to have in his prison unit. The console will not be connected to the internet and will only be accessible to inmates if they maintain good behavior.
