Michael Jordan is investing $26 million into the eSports franchise.
The legendary basketball player is extending his business into the gaming industry by investing $26 million into a startup called AXiomatic Gaming. AXiomatic Gaming is over Team Liquid and is one of the top pro-gaming organizations in the world. AXiomatic Gaming was started in 2015 and acquired majority stake in Team Liquid in 2016.
Several well-known sports figures are spearheading the fairly young company such as Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis, Los Angeles Dodgers and Golden State Warriors part-owner Peter Guber, Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Warriors minority owner Bruce Karsh are all co-chairs for the company. MagicJ ohnson is also is one of the investors.
This adds to Jordan’s many businesses including being the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. According to Forbes, Team Liquid is the third-most valuable esports team in the world pricing out to $200 million.
