Be a feminist they said, we want equal rights, anything you can do I can do better. Yeah, it’s all fun and games until you’re stranded on the side of the road with spotty reception and low battery life on your cell phone. Ladies, if your tire was flat and help wasn’t immediately available would you know what to do? If you do, that’s great but, there’s many more of us who should probably get a lesson or two in minor car repairs. Fellas, the same goes for you as not all of you are the handy type.
If you think that your good looks will save you and assume that people are always willing to help a damsel in distress, you are wrong and could even be putting your life in danger. We live in interesting times and it’s not enough anymore to assume that someone will be so kind as to stop and help you. It’s more likely these days that they’d like to help but, simply lack the basic skills to be able to assist. If you can’t google it or if there isn’t an app for it, a lot of people don’t know what to do when it comes to traditional manual labor. This isn’t limited to just car work. There are everyday things that you should know how to do without needing to hire or find someone else to help you like:
Changing a tire and putting on a spare. In addition you should probably know how to put air in a tire and if you wanna be fancy, I hear changing your oil isn’t too hard. That’s a little too much for me but, you get my point.
Unclog a drain. Because all that hair in the bathroom sink builds up. Nothing a little Drain-O or a snake tool can’t fix.
Know the difference between a Phillips Head and Slotted Head Screwdriver. To be clear, a Phillips is the one with the thingies and the Slotted is the single flat line one. Don’t judge me, I know them when I see them. Also, remember righty tighty, lefty loosey when using screws.
Assemble simple furniture. At least the Walmart kind because I think we all need a little assistance with even the smallest things from Ikea.
Do lawn work. If you own property you should at least be able to mow your own lawn, rake the leaves, get the weeds out and plant a flower or two.
Connect the cable cords to the back of the TV. Just remember input and output.
