Just one month after a leaked phone call directly linked #Birdman to the gunman in #LilWayne’s 2015 tour bus shooting, the Cash Money boss and his affiliate, Young Thug, are looking to stop all future communication about the case. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In new documents obtained by The Blast, the two have filed an emergency motion to suppress their depositions and stop Alvin Lewis, the tour bus driver who is suing the men over the incident, from speaking on the case to the media, or anyone else for that matter.
Back in 2016, Lewis filed a suit against Thug, Birdman, Peewee Roscoe, Cash Money Records and Young Money Records after the shooting, which came after an alleged altercation between Wayne and Roscoe’s crew.
Eventually, Roscoe, whose real name is Jimmy Winfrey, confessed to the shooting, and was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime. The conviction was later overturned over a judge’s inappropriate actions, but Winfrey was ordered to remain behind bars.
As part of Lewis’ lawsuit, he said in the time before and after the shooting, Winfrey made several calls to both Thug and Birdman, calling the incident “gang-related.” But now, after the case has been stalled over the conduct of a lawyer involved, Birdman and Thug are looking to stop Lewis from speaking on it at all.
In the meantime, the Cobb County District Attorney has yet to decide on whether to file charges against the rappers.
