#BlameBeckyNotBey: Twitter Blames Beyoncé For Beto O’Rourke’s Loss For Texas Senate Seat; Voter Demographics Show Over 50 Percent Of White Women Voted For Ted Cruz

Beyonce’s tardiness to the Beto O’Rourke endorsement party is being pinned as the reason for the Democrat’s loss to Sen. Ted Cruz.

The Houston native dropped a picture on Instagram announcing her support for beloved former Democratic Senatorial candidate Beto on the day of the Midterms Election. In her post, Queen Bey stressed the importance of voting, writing, “We can’t voice our frustrations and complain about what’s wrong without voting and exercising our power to make it right,” she wrote to her 119 million followers. “We need you.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But her timeliness was judged by many who say because of her, Beto lost the Texas election. One person tweeted, “You have such a huge, influential voice and you wait until Election Day to post this?!” one flummoxed fan wrote, “Beto needed you sooner. Maybe you could’ve actually made a difference.” “Lol these posts a week ago could have made the difference in young voters,” someone else noted.

The gag is: voter demographics showed it isn’t Beyoncé who should be blamed – it’s white women. O’Rourke was eventually beaten by  Republican incumbent Cruz in the closely watched race. Cruz gained 50.9 percent of the vote compared to O’Rourke’s 48.3 percent, Page Six reports. Out of those numbers, 71 percent of white women voted for Cruz, 59 percent of white men also voted for Cruz. Eighty-four percent of Black men voted for Beto, and 95 percent of Black women voted Beto. Latino men and women ranged from 60 to 66 percent.

Luckily, true fans fired back at Beyoncé critics. One Twitter user wrote, “Beto did not lose because of Beyoncé. Log out and put your phone down. Thanks. Goodnight.”
