SlashFilm reports that the two-hour feature will be a sequel that picks up Jesse Pinkman’s turbulent story, where the season finale ended.
Aaron Paul is set to reprise his role as Pinkman, while its undecided if Bryan Cranston will be back. The film “tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom,” according to The Albuquerque Journal.
“The kidnapped man is Jesse Pinkman, and the movie will follow his escape from Albuquerque following the bloody events of the series finale,” SlashFilm confirms.
Cranston recently said he’d “absolutely” appear in the upcoming film if Gilligan asks. “Yes, there appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad,” he said Wednesday on The Don Patrick Show.
“It’s a great story, and there’s a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some kind of completion to these storylines that were left open, and this idea, from what I’m told, gets into those…at least a couple of the characters who were not completed, as far as their journey.”
Gilligan reportedly wrote the new script and may direct the sequel. Film production is starting this month in New Mexico and should be finished by early February.
