Amanda Knox shared that she is engaged to long-time boyfriend, Christopher Robinson, by posting a video to Instagram Saturday.
In 2009, Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaelle Sollecito, were convicted of murdering British student Meredith Kercher, who was found with her throat slashed in the apartment she shared with Knox in Perugia, Italy.
Knox was cleared for the 2007 murder after the pair spent four years in prison before the conviction was overturned in 2011. Courts threw out the acquittal in 2014, but it was ultimately upheld by Italy’s Supreme Court in 2015.
After the Supreme Court ruling Knox returned to Seattle, Washington and finished her degree, as she vowed to devote herself to securing justice for those wrongfully convicted of crimes. In the meantime, Knox has found new love and moved on with her life.
In the video of the proposal, Knox and Robinson are at home when a bang causes them to rush outside to find a meteorite lodged in the ground.
Inside the meteorite is a tablet, narrating the story of the couple’s relationship.
“I don’t have a ring, but I do have a big rock. Will you stay with me until the last star in the last galaxy burns out. And then even after that,” said Robinson. “Amanda Marie Knox, will you marry me?”
The couple have been dating for three years.
