Meek Mill recently visited Angie Martinez and was asked his thoughts about the Pusha T and Drake beef that entertained the world this past summer. Meek’s overall response was simple, ain’t no rules in rap beef.
During the “beef,” Drake said that Pusha T went too far by dissing 40 and his health condition. But Meek and a few others in the rap game say there “ain’t such thing as going too hard.” Of course, Meek would definitely know all about that…especially with Drake.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meek said during the interview, “Ain’t no such thing as going too hard. I would tell Drake that when I see him, too. I’m just tellin’ you. I’m come from where ni**as sayin’, ‘We will smoke your mom.’ Like, ‘We will lay on your mom and smoke her. Your dad is a rat. Your sister is a hoe.'”
He continued, referencing his now squashed beef with Drake, “It wasn’t no rules on me. They got memes, all types of sh*t going on. I don’t know what to do. I’m in the mix. I’m confused now.”
“Ain’t no rules, though,” he added. “You can take any stance you want, you can do it how you want. Just, you know, continue your legacy and be great. We’re going to see all at the end, five years from now, 10 years from now, who is going to continue to be great. We’re gonna have some shootouts sometimes, you know what I mean? But as long as you make it home, that’s all that matters at the end of the night.”
Beginning a Philly battle rapper himself, Meek would know all the rules to the game. But what do you guys think? Where you’re from, are there rules to diss records or rap needs? Boundaries or lines you can’t cross?
