New Jersey Teacher Fired After Telling First Grade Students Santa, The Easter Bunny And The Tooth Fairy Are Not Real

Guess someone doesn’t have the Holiday spirit yet. A New Jersey substitute teacher recently told first-grade students that Santa Claus is not real. According to New Jersey School District Superintendent, Rene Rovtar, the teacher was terminated from her role with the Montville Township Public Schools district.

Cedar Hill School Principal, Michael Raj, sent a letter to parents following the incident, noting the “childhood innocence of the holiday season.” He said as a parent himself, he understands the “sensitive nature” of the topic.

According to Fox News, the students began to challenge the teacher, asking if other childhood characters such as the Easter Bunny, Elf on a Shelf, the Tooth Fairy and leprechauns were real and the substitute debunked all of them.

Many of the children’s parents expressed their frustration following the incident via social media. Parent, Lisa Simek, posted to Facebook saying, “Many of us parents have been doing damage control since the kids get home from school.” Another mom posted, “I was heartbroken. You know, my daughter is the hugest believer in the whole Christmas spirit — Santa, giving,” she said after her daughter came home from school distraught.

Parents, do your children still have their childhood innocence? Or did you (or someone else) burst their reality bubble already?
