Kid Cudi Shares He Was “Ashamed” To Talk About His Mental Health During The Latest Episode Of “Red Table Talk”

In 2016, Kid Cudi posted a Facebook letter telling his fans that he was checking himself into rehab to battle his depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. He wrote, “I am not at peace. My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it … It’s time I fix me. I’m nervous but I’mma get through this.”

Recently, Cudi took a seat at the red table in the upcoming episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk” Facebook Watch series and opened up about mental health, all while offering advice for whoever needed to hear it.

Cudi, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, told the ladies of the show, “I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden… even from my friends. I really was good with that. And it’s scary because you hear people say, ‘I had no clue.’”

Willow Smith agreed with his statement, as she was joined by her matriarchs and co-hosts, Pinkett- Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Jones. She continued his statement with, “And then they feel like, ‘I want to be your friend, I want to be there for you.’ Dang, I was going through all of this, and I was so unaware. That makes them feel like, ‘I’m not really doing my job as a friend.’”

Cudi explained that he made sure to reassure his friends that it’s not their fault. He said, “Sometimes, I let them know that it’s not their fault. It was me. I really went out of my way to keep what I was going through hidden because I was ashamed.”

There’s no doubt many people could relate to what Kid Cudi will discuss on this interview. The next episode of “Red Table Talk” airs December 17th.
