Chuck D Becomes The Newest Chairman For The Upcoming Universal Hip Hop Museum

Hip Hop originator and Public Enemy co-founder Chuck D has become the chairman of the celebrity board for the Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Universal Hip Hop Museum is dedicated to Hip Hop and its impact on the world’s culture. Fellow chairman and rapper, #Kurtis Blow referred to Chuck D’s legacy as one of the “well-respected MC’s in the culture of hip-hop.” “The credibility he brings to our team is mammoth. He also understands the importance of the UHHM and vows to let the world know via a star-studded celebrity board in the near future. Flame on!”

So far the museum has raised $20 million in initial funding, according to Blow and Universal Hip Hop Museum director Rocky Bucano. The building is 50,000-square feet and will be located in a 25-floor high-rise at the new Bronx Point development at 69 East 149th Street in the South Bronx. The museum was designed to highlight hip-hop and its global history.

The UHHM will give visitors the experience that is comprised of five elements: DJ’ing, emceeing, breaking, visual arts and knowledge. It will also feature digital collections and virtual exhibits, as well as host interview sessions pop-up experiences, award shows and various educational programs and activities. The cultural ambassadors for the museum include Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash, and Fab Five Freddy.

The museum will open its doors in 2022.
