Singer Toni Braxton allegedly owes millions in back taxes.
The Blast has obtained court documents showing the IRS has filed its first lien against Braxton on December 4, stating she owes a total of $340,252.99 in back taxes for 2017. Just days later, the State of California Franchise Tax Board filed a lien of their own against her for the amount of $116,154.64. Altogether Braxton owes $456,407.63.
Both parties have let her know that if she doesn’t pay her dues, they will begin seizing her property. Braxton faced a similar issue last year as both the IRS and the State of California filed liens against the singer claiming she owed $780,808.29 in back taxes. Braxton has previously filed for bankruptcy, once in 1996, and a second time in 2010. At the time, she was more than $10 million in debt. The majority of her debt was wiped clean in 2014 by a federal judge.
Braxton says she filed for bankruptcy the second time because of her poor health, which caused her to step down from a series of Las Vegas concerts. Luckily, Braxton was able to finish her 17-show tour called “The Hits Tour,” as well as earn money from her popular television series “Braxton Family Values.”
