Moschino USA Manager Sued for Calling Black Customers ‘Serenas’

Moschino USA is under fire after a former employee revealed the store’s code for black clients.

The designer’s West Hollywood location is home for the elite with deep pockets. So, if you don’t fit that description, you’re basically not welcomed through the doors. Well, at least that’s what Shamael Lataillade says.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Lataillade was a worker for the luxury brand company, who witnessed a lot of the out-of-pocket security measurements at the hands of her supervisor. She claimed the management figure coded African-American customers who didn’t dress or carry brand named items as “Serenas.” This was a reference to Serena Williams.

According to TMZ, the Haitian-American employee said the supervisor would even go as far as to decline service for “Serenas” by telling them they were out of stock of certain items. She said the boss even ordered other employees to watch them closely and write down their license plate numbers.

The unnamed boss threw her insults at staff, as well. Court documents tell of her making fun of Lataillade, stereotyping her as someone who practiced voodoo. Lataillade decided to take matters into her own hands and complained to corporate about her supervisor’s unprofessional behavior, which resulted in her dismissal. Thus, the current lawsuit followed.

TMZ went on to report she is suing Moschino for “unspecified damages,” the company denies her claims.
