In 2018, Travis Scott had a successful year with the release of his album “Astroworld” as well as the birth of his daughter, Stormi. However, Scott is facing a lawsuit against him for allegedly bailing on a headline set and running off with over $200k. ⠀

As reported by The Blast, Scott is being sued by Empire Music Ventures for fraud and breach of contract. Court documents state the rapper legally agreed to perform at the 2019 Rhyme, Wine & Brews Experience on Empire Polo Grounds. The same location as Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Scott was to be paid $400,000 for a 75-minute performance, which was to take place on March 2, and he was given a deposit of $217,500. Empire Music Ventures state they attained an agreement on November 7, 2018, but following the deposit that was paid to him on December 3, Scott’s crew reached out to call off the performance without an explanation.

It’s been announced that on March 2, Scott is set to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City, along with a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn the following day. As a result of the cancellation of Scott’s appearance at the festival, Empire released an announcement stating to disregard the entire event. “Due to the last minute cancellation by our festival headliner, we have no other choice than to cancel the 2019 Rhythm, Wine & Brews Experience,” they clarified.

In their lawsuit, Empire states, “defendants have stolen [the] Plaintiff’s money.” They also say that Scott and his manager declined in returning the money, and have “wrongfully converted it to their own use.” Furthermore, the contract requests that Travis Scott is not able to “contract or advertise any other performance within a 120-mile radius for 90 days before or 30 days after March 2.”
