In the era of the old tweets and fake outrage, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has dubbed the easily offended age, “Generation Snowflake.”
The People’s Champ discussed recent headlines with England’s Daily Star, from Kevin Hart’s old offensive tweets to a ban on clapping and more, which, in turn, forced the wrestler to speak out against the easily and overly offended. In fact, in his explanation, he said fake outrage, in which people are “looking for a reason to be offended” is ultimately a slap in the face to those who fought for our rights to freedom of speech.
“I don’t have to agree with what somebody thinks, who they vote for, what they vote for, what they think, but I will back their right to say or believe it,” The Rock said, adding, “That’s democracy.”
“So many good people fought for freedom and equality – but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended,” the wrestler turned actor continued. “If you are not agreeing with them, then they are offended- and that is not what so many great men and women fought for.”
Although the world, as The Rock knows it, has progressed in the last few decades, he said the easily offended snowflakes are ruining the process.
“We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years,” he said. “People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want.”
“That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.”
