A Brooklyn pastor has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of his teenage daughter, according to PIX11 and other news outlets.
Reports say the pastor, Matthew, 44, leads a church in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. Family members say the girl, who is 14, recently told a relative about the alleged abuse, which she says took place on church grounds over several years. According to the report, the girl and her twin brother have lived with their older brother and his wife since their mother died, and their father had visitation every other weekend.
The family says they had tried to get his visitation revoked over earlier claims of verbal and physical abuse but were unsuccessful. On Thursday, police arrested Matthew on charges of criminal sexual abuse and forcible touching, the outlet reports.
The church was closed as a crime scene while the investigation continued. The reports reviewed did not include a response from the pastor. These are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
