A daycare center in Lubbock, Texas is under investigation after a video surfaced that appears to show an employee mistreating a little girl while her classmates watched from their seats.
The video went viral on Thursday, though it was reportedly recorded at an earlier date. It shows a teacher, reportedly identified as Kay Kae, making the girl stand while the other children sit and eat. When the girl, who has trouble keeping her balance, tries to rest her head on the table, the employee is seen pulling her hair and telling her to eat while standing. Another employee appears to be recording and laughing.
The owners of My Little Playhouse Learning Center released a statement saying an investigation is underway and the staff members involved have been fired. Lubbock police were also reported to be looking into the incident. The reports reviewed did not include a statement from the employee.
The girl’s grandmother, Shanna, said she saw the video about 20 minutes before picking the child up. She described the girl as sweet, quiet and shy, and said of the situation, “It’s very frightening.”
