‘Child’s Play’ Creator to Bring “Chucky’ TV Series To Syfy

The infamous “Good Guy” doll is making its way to the small screen, as SyFy has landed the rights to a new ‘Chucky’ television series.

Written by Don Mancini, the creator/writer behind the “Chucky” movie franchise, the series will focus on the main character, Charles Lee Ray, who’s reincarnated into the red-haired, freckled-faced ‘Good Guy’ doll. Mancini will work alongside producers David Kirschner and Nick Antosca.

“It’s very rare that you get the opportunity to bring such an iconic character to your network, let alone with the original creator attached,” Bill McGoldrick, President of Scripted Content at NBCU Cable Entertainment, said. “We look forward to working with Don, David, and Nick on putting their blood, sweat, and more blood into bringing the Chucky story to television.”

“I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us,” Mancini said of the project, some months after teasing the television adaptation with a tweet that read, “Child’s Play: The TV Series.”

“The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

The ‘Chucky’ series, most of which were titled, “Child’s Play,” kicked off in 1988, and was followed by six sequels, including 1998’s “Bride of Chucky,” and 2017’s “Cult of Chucky.” And now, it’s heading to television.

“In these troubled times, I believe it’s my obligation as a horror icon to reach the widest possible audience, on TV. For over thirty years, I’ve been scaring the sh*t out of you. But now at Syfy, I look forward to really making a difference,” Chucky said, via Deadline.

Are you hear for a Chucky television show?
