The District Attorney in Onondaga County is not here for Pete Davidson’s negative comments about his capital city, Syracuse, and now, he’s looking to reopen a criminal case against the comedian because of them.
In a recent interview with Variety to promote his new film, “Big Time Adolescence,” Davidson opened up about his distaste for the city in which he filmed the forthcoming project.
“It sucked,” Davidson said, as he recalled his time in The ‘Cuse. “The whole town of Syracuse blows. Let’s be honest, they just found out I was there and tried to arrest me the whole time.”
During his stint in the Salt City last summer, Davidson was pulled over with a friend. Although he was let go, his friend was arrested on marijuana charges.
“The cops, because there’s nothing going on there, they were hunting me down the whole time. They tried to arrest me for bringing business to your town. Never again, Syracuse,” he said.
However, District Attorney, William Fitzpatrick, didn’t take too kindly to Davidson’s comments. In fact, Fitzpatrick has called on the Town of Manlius Police Department to reopen the case against the comedian over his unspecified traffic and vehicle violation.
“I just heard the comments of Pete Davidson,” Fitzpatrick said on Tuesday. “Not surprisingly, it was the first time I ever heard of Pete Davidson, and apparently he doesn’t like Syracuse. So I did a little background checking on him and, quite frankly, I’d be as likely to take tourism advice from Pete Davidson as I would marriage counseling from O.J. Simpson.”
As he continued, he explained his plan to ask police to look into Davidson’s charges. “And then we’ll see how much he really likes Syracuse,” Fitzpatrick said.
