Long before the phenomenon of pop music boy bands like *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys, there were The Beatles. The band of four, hailing from Liverpool, England, turned the music landscape upside down becoming an international sensation. In the US, the popularity of the band and overwhelming response of the fans was referred to as “Beatlemania” and the “British Invasion.”

In spite of the band’s record-breaking success, selling over 800 million records worldwide, The Beatles disbanded in 1970 however, the four members Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, and George Harrison each led successful solo careers. Now, a pair of legal documents foreshadowing the demise of the band are up for sale. The signed letters refer to retaining and then ultimately severing the professional ties between “The Beatles” and Lee and John Eastman,  who were involved with managing the band. The initial letter, dated January 1969 is on sale for $225,000 and the April 1969 letter, dubbed the “split letter” is on sale for $325,000. Whoever wants to own a piece of this musical history will have to pay a pretty penny.
