Within the first week of Black History Month, Liam Neeson revealed his past urge to kill “some black bastard,” Michelle Rodriguez defended Neeson’s statement, claiming an interracial kiss eliminates racism, and Gucci promoted and apologized for a sweater that resembled blackface; and quite frankly, we are tired.
In fact, amid the recent controversy – which at this point, many believe to be used for publicity – director #SpikeLee announced his decision to boycott two of the biggest, and most luxurious, fashion brands until they decide to hire some people of color.
“I, Spike Lee of sound mind and body will no longer wear Prada or Gucci until they hire some black designers,” Lee wrote on Tuesday. “To be in da room when it happens.”
”It’s obvious to da peoples that they don’t have a clue when it comes to racist, blackface hateful imagery. Wake up. Ya Dig? Sho-Nuff. And dat’s da ‘coonery and buffoonery’ truth, ruth.”
