Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke, one of the three founders of the legendary Roc-A-Fella label and brand, has officially launched a new company, and his first signing is songwriter, rapper and rising star, SAINt JHN, Billboard reports.
For the first time in 13 years, after parting ways with the historic brand, in which he helped push over 60 million albums, all of which he executive produced – including Jay-Z’s longtime classics, Burke has returned to the music game with a new management company, Circle of Success Management Company. And it’s all because of JHN.
“The night [Roc Nation co-founder Tyran Smith], played a preview of SAINt JHN’s new album, I drove home listening to ‘Collection One’ and had an immediate sonic connection to his music,” Burke said in a statement, explaining his inspiration to get back in the business. After that, the two met at a Pyer Moss fashion show, and the rest is history.
“It just happened,” JHN told Baller Alert of the fashion show moment. “We have mutual friends. So Biggs’ friends just happened to be some of my friends, and I saw Biggs at a show, at the Pyer Moss show – fashion show. This sounds so luxurious. This is Lux.”
“‘I was like, ’yo fam, we hadn’t met. Really nice to meet you,’”JHN explained. “I wanted our worlds to become a little bit smaller, and he was like, ‘yo fam, I heard your music, but let’s take a picture.’ But I didn’t know, I was just saying hi. You know, your homegirl that’s like a friend of a friend, you see them out, and you’d heard so much about them that you just walk up to them and you feel comfortable enough saying something – it was like that.”
While Circle of Success Management is his first big music venture since selling his shares to Roc-A-Fella, according to Billboard, Burke has a slew of business dealings in fashion, film, and television, including two new projects that have been picked up by HBO.
Congratulations to Biggs and SAINt JHN.
