A Jensen Beach, Florida man who was mistakenly arrested in a South Florida prostitution sting says he plans to sue the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, according to WPTV.

The arrest came weeks after 25 people were arrested and charged in an investigation into prostitution and trafficking at spas in the area. Sandipkumar said on Tuesday that on Feb. 25 he thought his life had ended, and that the accusation brought shame on his family.

WPTV reports that his attorney, David Golden, said deputies went to the family’s home and told Sandipkumar’s wife he was seen on video paying for sex at a Stuart spa on Nov. 19. His wife said hearing the charges left her unable to catch her breath.

The sheriff’s office later said he had been misidentified. Investigators had run the tag on a blue Porsche that left the spa, which was registered to a woman with the common last name Patel. They then identified a man with the same name who they believed resembled the man in the surveillance video. Golden said there was no connection between that vehicle and his client or his family.

The charges were dropped. In a statement, the sheriff’s office said it met with him after learning of the error, notified the media, began paying his expenses and started the process of expunging his misdemeanor arrest record. Because he has hired an attorney and announced plans to sue, the office said it must limit further public comment.
