It looks like R. Kelly has some serious guardian angels.
The embattled singer has just paid the more than $160,000 in back child support that was required to be released from Cook County Jail.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, the money was posted shortly after 11:00 a.m. and the singer was released from the jail shortly afterwards.
Kelly’s latest stay in jail came after a judge ordered him to pay for the unpaid child support he owed his ex-wife Andrea Kelly.
An amount he hasn’t paid in more than eight months for the support of the ex-couples’ three children. The current support order shows that the singer is supposed to pay $20,000 a month, and cover educational expenses.
This is Kelly’s second three night stay in jail in three weeks. The first three night stay came after the crooner couldn’t post $100,000 bond after being charged in four sex abuse cases.
Eventually, the bond was posted by a Romeoville woman who became friends with the singer after meeting him on a cruise around Lake Michigan, according to his friend Don Russell.
Kelly was jailed this week on a civil contempt charge and ordered to pay $161, 663 in back support as ordered by the judge presiding over his divorce case.
According to Kelly’s publicist, the singer came to court prepared to offer up $60,000, but the judge demanded that Kelly pay the full amount owed in order to avoid going back to the slammer.
It’s unclear who has paid his bond this time around.
